BetterBody Coconut Oil Class Action Settlement

samantha severyn

BetterBody Food & Nutrition LLC has come to a settlement for a class action against their coconut oil products, claiming they were misleadingly marketed as being healthy. If you purchased BetterBody coconut oil or Naturally Refined Coconut Oil between January 1st of 2013 and November 18th of 2016, you may be entitled to a cash payment and/or gift card valid for other BetterBody Products.

According to the lawsuit, BetterBody’s coconut oil products were misleadingly marketed as being healthy, violating the False Advertisement Law and the Consumer Legal Remedies act. BetterBody’s has denied any allegations, yet has agreed to settle for $1 million in monetary relief to Class Members. In addition, BetterBody’s has agreed to remove products labels such as “one of the healthiest oils in the world”, “A healthy Alternative to Butter and Cooking Oil”, and “zero transfat” in order to more appropriately portray the product they are selling.

You are eligible if you purchased BetterBody Organic Extra Virgin Coconut oil or BetterBody Organic Refined Coconut Oil between January 1, 2013 and November 18, 2016.

Potential Award: Full cash payment refunds are provided to those with proof of purchase; while those without proof may receive up to $40, comprised of 40% cash and 60% gift certificate.
