Five separate class action lawsuits filed between 2014 and 2016 in Arizona, California, Florida, and Illinois have been consolidated into one for a $16 million-dollar settlement.

According to the lawsuits, customers ADT Home Security System used encrypted wireless communication systems that left them vulnerable to a hack that could disable the security system. ADT was accused of failing to disclose this vulnerability to customers of the Home security system.

Over 45,000 documents of discovery were presented in this lawsuit.

ADT denies any wrong doing or liability, however has decided to settle in order to avoid further expenses.

Current and former ADT customers who between Nov. 13, 2009 and Aug. 15, 2016 contracted with ADT or an ADT dealer for installation of a residential security system that included at least one wireless peripheral sensor can get up to $45 from the hacking vulnerability class action settlement.

The deadline to file a claim is February 26, 2018!
