Honeywell, makers of TrueSTEAM Humidifer, were sued over allegations that their humidifiers were defective causing them to leak scalding hot water. In addition, claims stated that the humidifier was prone to excessive mineral and sediment build up which was also a scalding hazard.
Over several years, and several plaintiffs with similar claims, a settlement was reached. Honeywell still denies fault of the allegations.
Class Members include persons in the U.S. and its related territories who owned a TrueSTEAM Humidifier between Jan. 1, 2008 and April 14, 2017, for their own personal or household use.
Qualifying owners of a TrueSTEAM Humidifier may choose to receive a replacement humidifier or a cash payment of up to $40
Along with the submission of a Claim Form, claimants must submit one of the following:
- A photograph of the side label from the claimant’s own TrueSTEAM Humidifier that shows the bar code and serial number
- A receipt or invoice documenting the claimant’s purchase of their TrueSTEAM Humidifier
- Records documenting installation, maintenance, service or repair of the claimant’s TrueSTEAM Humidifier, showing the claimant’s name and/or address
