Lorex has issued a recall of the company’s Care’N’Share video baby monitors due to the product’s burn hazard. The batteries in the devices can overheat, swell and expand causing the battery cover to open or pop-off exposing the hot batteries and creating a burn hazard for consumers.

The model numbers affected by the recall are:

  • WL3520
  • WL4320
  • WL3401

The model numbers are printed on the back panel of the monitor. These monitors were sold in bundles with cameras, measure about 4 inches tall x 5 inches wide, contain a blue lithium polymer battery, and have “LOREX” or “The Lorex Baby” printed below the screen. They are typically white with either a white or black border.

The recalled monitors were sold in bundles ranging from $60 to $140 at Babies “R” Us, B&H, Best Buy, Home Depot, Walmart, www.amazon.com, and www.lorextechnology.com between May 2013 and April 2016.

Lorex has received 488 reports of the batteries overheating and expanding and about 140 reports of the battery pack swelling causing it’s plastic casing to open or come off.

Consumers with the affected models should immediately stop using the recalled monitors and contact Lorex to receive a full refund.
