The ParaGard T-380A is a copper IUD approved contraceptive that can be left in a woman’s uterus for up to 10-years. For some women it is a great alternative to hormone-based contraceptives, while others experience serious complications with the device.
Pirl is currently looking into one of these complications – breakage. Meaning that the device itself breaks inside the body, leading to additional procedures to remove the remaining pieces. While this breakage usually occurs during removal, we believe it can happen on its own as well by slowly disintegrating in the uterus.
Additional procedures to remove the remaining parts can include ultrasounds, X-rays, Cat-scans, and surgery – racking up hefty medical bills and missed time from work, family, and friends.
If you or a loved one had the ParaGard IUD and experienced a breakage, please contact us today at firstname.lastname@example.org, 650-762-8545, or fill out the form below.
