NEARLY 100,000 POUNDS OF CHICKEN PRODUCTS RECALLED

Three chicken product producers have issued recalls of ready-to-eat and not-ready-to-eat-chicken products affecting approximately 99,763 pounds of chicken nationwide.

On January 25, 2019 – Harvest Food Group, Inc recalled approximately 47,332 pounds of Not-Ready-To-Eat (NRTE) chicken fried rice products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, milk. The affected products subject to the recall are:

·         9-oz. cardboard packages of "yumnum global cuisine YAKITORI SEASONED CHICKEN FRIED RICE" bearing lot codes "C041A8K12 BEST BY 11/12/2019," "C091A8L04 BEST BY 12/04/2019," and "C091A8L05 BEST BY 12/05/2019."

These NRTE products were produced on November 12, 2018, December 4, 2018, and December 5, 2018, bear the establishment number “P-34457” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and were shipped to retailers in Illinois and Michigan.

Consumers are urged to not consume these products and should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

On January 28, 2019 – Perdue Foods, LLC recalled approximately 16,011 pounds of Ready-To-Eat (RTE) Refrigerated Fun Shapes Chicken Breast Nuggets due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, milk. The affected products subject to the recall are:

·         12-oz. packages of "PERDUE Fun Shapes Chicken Breast Nuggets" with a "USE BY" date of "MAR 11 2019" and lot codes 17009010 – 19009010

These RTE products were produced on January 10, 2019, bear the establishment number “P-369” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and were distributed to retailers in Connecticut, Delaware, Washington, D.C., Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia.

The problem was discovered when a retail store notified the company of an incorrect label.

Consumers are urged to not consume these products and should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

On January 29, 2019 – Tyson Foods, Inc. recalled approximately 36,420 pounds of chicken nugget products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically rubber. The affected products subject to the recall are:

·         5-lb. plastic packages of "Tyson WHITE MEAT PANKO CHICKEN NUGGETS" with a "BEST IF USED BY" date of "NOV 26 2019," case code "3308SDL03" and time stamps 23:00 through 01:59 (inclusive).

The panko chicken nuggets were produced on November 26, 2018, bear the establishment number “P-13566” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and were shipped to retailers nationwide.

The problem was discovered when the company received complaints from consumers regarding the extraneous material.

Consumers are urged to not consume these products and should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of any of these recalled products. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service recommends that anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
