After a continued fight ADT alarm giant has agreed to a nationwide settlement. Pending approval, this settlement stands to resolve multiple lawsuits across Arizona, Illinois, Florida, and California. Following allegations of failure to alert customers of a vulnerability of wireless systems. This vulnerability is due to a lack of encryption codes rendering the systems Hackable. ADT clearly never disclosed this to customers. Instead, it is also alleged that ADT intentionally concealed information related to this vulnerability. However, this problem was initially reported in a Forbes magazine article from 2014. According to the judge promotional statements including promises of “reliable security protection” and protection from “unwanted entry and property loss” possibly support a claim of fraud. Well, it appears that ADT and their legal team are in agreement with the judge.
Specific details of the agreement are not yet available.
